Powdered Tap Density Meter

The bulk densities of powdered, granular or flasked material are dependent on the manner in which the powder is packed together. This parameter is very important in packing the material. During tapping of the sample, the smaller particles try to fit themselves in gaps of the larger particles and hence the total volume of the powder reduces.

Smart Tap 40, Tap density meter used to measure the tap density of any powder.

Sample is placed in the graduated glass cylinder of 100 ml capacity and is mounted on the platform designed to keep the same. Snap fit arrangement holds the cylinder in perfect position. Rotation of the platform while tapping helps to keep the powder level in flat position for reading. To ensure the free drop of the cylinder from the required height, the holder is provided with friction free bearing.

Before starting the tapping, initial volume and weight of the material is noted. After that the tapping counts is been set with the help of the counter from 1 to 9999 counts. Then tapping is started. After reaching the set counts, automatically the tapping stops and we have to note the final volume. With the help of the final volume and weight of the sample, the tap density is calculated.
